Last month, members of the Office of Ignatian Spirituality’s Comunidades Hispanas Ignacianas led a day-long, silent retreat on theme of “in all things to love and to serve” for nearly 60 parishioners of Our Lady of the Presentation-Our Lady of Mercy, a Jesuit parish in Brooklyn, New York.

The retreat began with an invitation to prayer and a guided meditation. Each person was invited to pray individually and then share the fruits of their prayer with the group. Fr. Jack Fagan, SJ, concluded the retreat with a special benediction for the participants and members of the Comunidades Hispanas Ignacianas.

This group was formed more than a year ago, and since then it has been meeting periodically for prayer, conversation, and to put faith into action, as they have done by sharing with one another their experiences of faith on this retreat.

During the past year, participants have received an introduction to Ignatian spirituality from the Office of Ignatian Spirituality’s team on themes such as: “What is Ignatian Spirituality?” “Ignatian prayer,” “faith and justice,” “the daily Examen of St. Ignatius Loyola,” and “leading small groups.”
