We're excited to announce that Fr. Joseph O'Keefe, provincial of the USA East Jesuit Province, has named Mr. Carlos Aedo to be the next Executive Director of the Office of Ignatian Spirituality (OIS). Carlos will take over from Fr. George Witt, SJ, on June 14, 2021.

Carlos has worked for OIS since it was established in 2016. He currently serves as Director of Hispanic Ministries, and will continue in this role even as he takes on these new responsibilities. Carlos has led Jesuit spirituality ministries for more than a decade. He and his team designed our Comunidades Hispanas Ignacianas program in 2019. Prior to that, he worked extensively with the Jesuit retreat houses on the East Coast and directed our Escuela de la Espiritualidad Ignaciana. Carlos has a degree in theology from the Catholic University of Santiago de Chile and a master's degree in educational administration from Boston College.

Fr. Witt has been appointed by Fr. O'Keefe to serve, beginning this summer, as Assistant Director of Novices in Syracuse, New York, where he will accompany Jesuits in the first phase of their formation. The Office of Ignatian Spirituality's ministry has grown substantially under Fr. Witt's leadership during the past five years, adding new programs and expanding to new regions.

We are grateful to Fr. Witt for his years of leadership at OIS. Please join us in praying for him as he prepares to begin his new ministry.

Please also join us in congratulating Carlos on his new role. We look forward to seeing where God will lead our ministry in the years ahead!
