Advent In Charlotte with the OIS Hispanic Ministry

On Saturday, Dec. 9, 2018, the OIS Hispanic Ministry offered an Advent retreat in the Diocese of Charlotte, North Carolina. The retreatants were all graduates of the School of Ignatian Spirituality (the "Escuela"), a five-session introduction to Ignatian spirituality offered by the Hispanic Minsitry team. In total, 25 people participated on this day-long retreat.

The morning session took the retreatants through an imaginative prayer exercise, in which they were encouraged to imagine themselves in a biblical story and employ their senses to make the experience more poignant. The afternoon was focused on the coming of Christ; the retreatants prayed using Advent readings. The day provided an opportunity for this group of Escuela graduates in the Charlotte area to encounter God together in community, and to take a break from the business of the season to find themselves in the presence of God awaiting the birth of His son.
