Advent 2020 Resources

Here a few resources from across the Ignatian community to accompany you and deepen your prayer during this season of preparation.

25 Days of Ignatian Spiritual Gifts

Jesuit Conference of Canada and the US

As members of the Ignatian family — Jesuits and Jesuit collaborators, individuals formed by the Spiritual Exercises or educated at Jesuit institutions — we know that Ignatian spirituality is a gift to the world. This Advent, as we make room in our hearts for the coming of Christ, we want to package that gift anew to give to the world.

Advent Simplicity Challenge

Ignatian Solidarity Network

“This Advent, commit to simplicity. In a season that can mistakenly be focused on gifts and consumption, explore ways to live simply as we hopefully prepare for the coming of Jesus and the restoration of the earth.”

And check out the ISN’s Advent calendar, “which will be filled with daily inspiration to live abundantly and joyfully while healing the earth this Advent.”

An Advent of Hope: A Virtual Advent Prayer Series

Loyola on the Potomac Jesuit Retreat House

Loyola on the Potomac Jesuit retreat house is offering an Advent prayer series on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:00pm ET. This series will be held via Zoom. There is no fee, but registration is required.

Advent Resources from IgnatianSpirituality.com

IgnatianSpirituality.com, a service of Loyola Press, has several helpful resources for Advent, including a series of video reflections called “Arts & Faith: Advent,” an Advent Examen, and more…

Reflections on the Daily Readings

by Elaine Ireland

Let these short reflections on the daily readings during the season of Advent help guide your prayer.

Elaine Ireland is a Christian writer, retreat leader, and spiritual director focused on finding God’s presence in the everyday, and on bringing the Scripture alive for our world today. Rooted in Ignatian spirituality, she has an M.A.in Spiritual and Pastoral Care from Loyola, Maryland. She is currently the Spiritual Director for the Ignatian Volunteer Corps in Baltimore and serves as an adjunct retreat leader at Loyola on the Potomac.
