About Marcus C. Washington:

Marcus C. Washington served as Headmaster of Washington Jesuit Academy for 10 years before assuming the role of Head of School in July 2020. Mr. Washington began a new chapter at WJA on July 1, 2022, as he became the school’s second ever President. In his role, he leads WJA’s business and advancement operations while continuing to oversee the vision of the academic program.

Prior to WJA, he taught at Gonzaga College High School in Washington, DC (his alma mater) and at the Potomac School in McLean, VA.

Mr. Washington serves on the boards of Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School, Gonzaga College High School, and LeMoyne College as well as the AnBryce Foundation Advisory Council. He was awarded the Outstanding New Teacher Award from the Archdiocese of Washington in 2007 and the Pedro Arrupe Award from Gonzaga College High School in 2014. A native Washingtonian, Mr. Washington earned a Master of Educational Leadership from the George Washington University, a Master of Secondary Education from Marymount University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Government from the College of William and Mary.
