Listening to God like Ignacio
By Sindy Collazo
This past weekend, participants in Pennsylvania experienced Escuchando a Dios como Ignacio, a silent Ignatian retreat. The retreat, conducted in Spanish, was led by Sindy Collazo and Fr. Jack Fagan, SJ, members of the Hispanic Ministry team from the Office of Ignatian Spirituality, with the collaboration of the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, including Sr. Carmen Cabrejos, ACJ, and Sr. Michelle Cimaroli, ACJ.
This three-day retreat took place at the Saint Raphaela Retreat Center in Haverford, PA, with the goal of introducing participants to the principles and various ways of praying in Ignatian Spirituality.
Participants were gradually invited into silence, facilitated by various prayer moments that invited them to listen to God like Ignatius: in their own story, in Scripture, in creativity, in their relationship with the world, in silence, in free time, in a relationship with Jesus, in the story of Ignatius, and “in all things, to love and serve.”
After each moment, participants reflected personally and then shared with the group the graces received from each prayer moment.
To conclude the retreat, Fr. Jack Fagan, SJ, presided over the celebration of the Eucharist.
